A Guide to Heavenly Ski Resort

admin 0

The Heavenly Ski Resort is located on the border between Nevada and California, it has thirty lifts and ninety-seven slopes and these are distributed between these two states. It is one of the best ski resorts and has four base facilities. In total, the resort is spread over an area of 19 square kilometers, or if you prefer, 4,800 acres.

Heavenly ranks in the highest position of any other ski resort in South Lake Tahoe. It is owned by Vail Resorts Inc and was purchased by them in 2002. Regardless of the fact that 360″ or nine meters of snow falls in this area annually, the Heavenly resort is also home to one of the largest snowmaking systems in the US so you can be sure if you want to ski and the snow hasn’t been that heavy they will cater for you.

With ski resorts, the “ski season” usually begins mid to late November and lasts until the end of April, but this time frame is based on how much snow the area receives. If the snowfall is not very good, the season may start later or end earlier. It’s always a good idea to take a look at the weather statistics for the ski resort you plan to visit so your ski trip isn’t interrupted or cancelled.

If you plan to fly, the closest airport to Heavenly is in Reno, Nevada. Fortunately, the resort has a shuttle bus that runs to and from the airport. There are a variety of accommodations to choose from, varying enough in style and price to meet the needs of every family.

Lake Tahoe recently approved a 10 year plan to make changes to Heavenly, they will continually make improvements to the community. One of these improvements includes the construction of a building called Powderbowl Lodge. It is a ski bridge with capacity for 950 people. They are also introducing two new trails, Skyline Trail and Skiways Glades, which are 10% steeper than any of the other trails currently offered. They also have a fleet of low emission nozzles and an ecological drainage system available. So, in addition to Aspen resorts, you can put Heavenly on that list of considerations for your next ski vacation.
