JK Capri: get ready to blow your mind
Every now and then a hotel will blow my mind. Words cannot do justice to how JK Place in Capri manages to bring even the most jaded traveler to their knees. There are certain things to look forward to when we stay at a high-end hotel. Maybe a great concierge, great amenities, or just some personal touches.
Well, guys, you’re not in Kansas anymore. The JK Capri is offside! Okay, here’s the deal. To get to Capri you need to bring out your inner Christopher Columbus. It is a bit of airplanes, trains and automobiles. We flew to Rome, took a train to Naples, and then took a ferry to Capri. When his ferry arrives, he is greeted by an Armani suit with a sign with his name on it. He grabs his bags and escorts him to a tricked golf cart (think what Bentley would think of if they made golf carts).
When you arrive at the hotel (think villa / mansion) on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean, a reception line of 5 people will gather with military precision to welcome you with a sincere and open heart. You are then taken to the terrace, which overlooks the ocean, for proper check-in, while you are served delicious sandwiches and a cocktail. During the snacks, you will meet the manager of the JK Place Capri hotel, Samuel Porreca (we will contact him later).
I won’t go into all the details on how perfectly he orchestrated every detail, but I will tell you it was nothing short of amazing. Imagine that every restaurant you go to waits for you with a reserved sign on the table and a cold glass of champagne. How about Capri’s most popular beach club, with a line at the door and when you arrive you are taken directly to a waiting chair with the best private view of the ocean. The JK Place in Capri can open doors on this island like I have never seen it do in a hotel. It’s much more than that. These people are just great. I mean these are people you really want to hang out with. Before going out for the night, they install h’ourderves in their library that are made with all local ingredients and they are amazing! You have your own personal bartender who remembers what you like and what you don’t like and creates custom cocktails for you to try.
When you get home at night (because that’s how it feels) you have someone who will ask you how it all went. Everyone in that hotel knows who you are and where you went. It’s like they put a GPS on you. It’s strange. I guess I’ll stop here, because it really could go on for days. This place is not cheap. However, in my opinion, you get 100 times your money’s worth. In fact, I’m not sure you can put a price on it.
