5 Best Running Music of 2009 – Run Longer, Faster, and Better

Do you want to do a triathlon but are nervous about running? Smile, the hardest part is over … because the hardest part is actually deciding to start running. Let your fear linger and start thinking of running as fun!

Seriously, if I can enjoy washing dishes to my favorite songs, well maybe enjoying is overkill, but at least I appreciate it, it would be more correct, then I’m sure you’ll start enjoying your morning run to the right music in no time. .

I understand that music is very personal, however, having spoken with many runners from my gym and Triathlon club, it is surprising how many of us have the exact same songs when it comes to running. So here you have it, my list of the best music out there.

1. Lady Gaga – Poker Face: An upbeat and motivating song whose rhythms are perfect for warming up and moving your legs.

2. The Black Eyed Peas – I Gotta Feeling: The pacing of this is almost perfect if you’re running a 7 minute mile … almost too perfect. The lyrics are fun, not offensive (okay, maybe “let’s burn the roof” something not so nice, but overall …)

3. MIA – Paper Airplanes – For anyone who hasn’t seen the Slumdog Millionaire movie, go check it out! You will be addicted to this song.

4. Pitbull – Hotel Room Service: OK, the lyrics are a bit haunting “Forget your boyfriend and meet me in the hotel room” and that’s just the beginning, but it’s a very upbeat song, and yes indeed you can’t be offended by the lyrics so it becomes quite funny.

5. Eminem – Lose Yourself: Despite numerous attempts by my friends to convince me that Eminem has a bad reputation, there is something about the phrase “If you had a chance, a chance for sixteen all you wanted, wait … you catch it or just let it slip away “that makes me want to push myself.

I hope this all represents about 20 minutes of music, which is perfect for starting a 2-3 mile run.

Enjoy running!
