Should the United States work with the Muslim Brotherhood in the political process?

Who should the US support when it comes to Egypt’s fresh start? Should we take sides? Can we live with the decisions we make today? Should the United States support the integration of the Muslim Brotherhood in the political process? What about the Arab League, Israel, the EU, the UN and others? Dare we take sides? If we strongly demand or suggest a meeting of minds in politics of the very different think tanks in Egypt, will that really serve the will of the people?

Who will it serve? What about our own value system, dare we project our ideals onto an Egyptian population? If so, what is the use? If the Muslim Brotherhood does not join the political process in the future, and really why should they after the military took over and threw their asses in the street, having been duly elected, all within the year of that election , then their differences will be resolved. If they don’t join politics, will they resort to violence? If so, who loses, who might they attack, and how does this serve US interests in the region?

If you have as many questions as I do, maybe before you think about the mainstream media propaganda or political correctness in all of this, there’s an interesting book I’d like to add to your reading pile, in fact, it might be wise to put it above, the name of the book is:

“The Brotherhood: America’s Next Great Enemy” by Erick Stakelbeck, Regnery Publishing, New York, NY, 2013, 256 pages, ISBN: 978-1621570332.

In the summary of his book he has put it on Amazon, he says;

“The Muslim Brotherhood, or Ikhwan, has engaged in terrorism, assassination, and anti-Western and anti-Semitic rhetoric and violence for nearly a century, yet few Americans realize just how powerful they really are. As we focus in Al Qaeda, Hamas, and Hezbollah, it is actually the Muslim Brotherhood, the oldest, most influential, and most anti-American Islamist group in the world, that has become the preeminent voice and power in the Muslim world.”

What most people don’t understand is that what the Muslim Brotherhood says and does is often diametrically opposed, and we have partner organizations of this group here in the US, to the things we hold so dear: freedom, freedom, the pursuit of happiness or the incredible diversity that we have gained through many hardships over the years.

In fact, I ask you to consider all of this and think about it the next time you watch the news and get sidetracked into a different decision about who you would like to support in Egyptian turmoil in the current period.
