What is the art of energy healing?

What exactly is the art of healing? It has been known for centuries that artistic paints have healing properties. People feel better just looking at art. It changes them for the better. Why is that?

Consider this quote:

The variety of shapes and the brilliance of color in the object presented to the patients are a real means of recovery.” – Florence Nightingale

The first law of thermodynamics states that energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be converted to a different form. The entire universe is made up of matter and energy in various forms. In fact, the average human body maintains a large percentage of potential energy that it converts as needed into chemical, thermal, or exhaust energy to get us through the day and night. Your brain alone uses about 27% of your energy.

According to futurism.com, the universe as a whole is closed. (Author’s note: This theory assumes that it is bounded in some way, and therefore no energy escapes or enters the universe.) However, human bodies (and other ecosystems) are not closed, they are open systems. We exchange energy with our environment. We can convert energy as noted in the previous paragraph.

At death, the collection of atoms you are composed of (a universe within a universe) is reused. Those atoms and that energy, which originated during the Big Bang, will always be around. Therefore, your ‘light’, that is, the essence of your energy, not to be confused with your real consciousness, will continue to resonate throughout space until the end of time. (Author’s note: So in that sense, at least a part of us is immortal.)

When we see an interesting painting, for me, it’s more than seeing a nice scene with pretty colors. I think there is also an exchange of energy. We are exchanging energy all day, every day. Why should it be any different when we are interacting with a painting?

When I create a new piece of energy healing art, there is energy swirling around my studio, my canvas, and in the paints and other materials I use. I have no doubt that some of this energy is absorbed in the art that I am creating. I also exchange my own energy and, as an energy healer, channel additional energy from the earth and the universe into it. You can see movement in most of my artistic creations. This, to me, is what energy looks like. constant movement. Each of my healing energy art paintings exudes energy. That’s why I love creating them.

At the deepest level, the creative process and the healing process arise from a single source. When you are an artist, you are a healer; a wordless trust of mystery itself is the foundation of her work and her integrity.” ~ Rachel Naomi Remen, MD

It is not like painting a subject known as a landscape. With energy paintings, I never know how the finished painting will turn out because the energy keeps moving long after I finish it! That, in itself, I find amazing and exhilarating.

Art classes are a more common form of healing or therapeutic art that complements a doctor’s care for emotional or mental ailments such as anxiety, bipolar and other disorders, depression, stress, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Here, the patient, alone or in a small group, learns to draw or paint. The aim is to distract the patient’s mind from her problems for a brief period while he is absorbed in the creative process. Hopefully, patients will begin to spend more time creating art and this will help them regain lost confidence and the will to improve. Drawing and coloring a mandala is a popular therapeutic art form to create.

In my healing art, by transferring energy into my paintings, a person will be encouraged to use the painting as a focal point and interact and exchange energy with their painting at home (or office/workplace). This is intended to supplement your doctor’s care, treatment and advice. While I have doctoral degrees, these are academic. I am not a doctor and I do not practice medicine. Sick people should see their family doctor or other health professional.

Energy is an invisible force, just like wind and other energy sources like radio, television, and Internet waves, so there will always be skeptics, but according to the Washington Post, “More than 60 American hospitals have adopted Reiki as part of patient services, according to a UCLA study, and Reiki education is offered in 800 hospitals.’

Reiki healers do not heal anyone. We simply act as go-betweens to channel universal energy through ourselves to the people who come to us for help. Given the size of the universe, of which we have only discovered about 5%, there is a great deal of energy available ready and willing to help.

Scientists theorize that 68% of the universe is made up of ‘dark’ or still unknown energy and that it would be equal to the amount of ‘positive’ energy that exists, thus canceling each other out. For my money, they can cancel each other out, but they both have to exist to do that, don’t they? Anyway, it’s all theory. The energy exists. Energy is neither created nor destroyed. Energy can only be exchanged or transferred.

Reiki or Energy Healing is also effective. The Healing Touch Professional Association estimates that more than 30,000 nurses in US hospitals use touch practices each year.’

The mood changes when our beautiful nature photographs are hung on the walls, bringing color, comfort and hope to patients, caregivers and loved ones.” ~ Elaine Poggi, Founder of The Foundation for Photo/Art in Hospitals

In summary, the combination of the ability to transfer or channel universal or earth energy has proven effective as a complementary care treatment method. Art placed in homes, offices, hospitals, and other places where people can benefit from it is one way to do this. Adding energy to paintings is a natural step in increasing the power of paintings to help people heal from any ailments or traumas they are experiencing. Of course, it won’t cure anything by itself, but it might help some people regain their self-confidence or experience a lessening of the burden of aches, pains, or emotional or mental problems.
