Best Tasting Medifast Foods

The other day, I got an email from a reader who was trying to put together a custom Medifast order but wasn’t sure which foods to choose. He asked me to give him a list of the best tasting foods. I was happy to do that and will share my list with you below, but everyone’s tastes will be different. Still, I spend a lot of time on weight loss websites and many of the people who are there agree with me. So, below, I’m going to go over, by food, which of the foods I most often think about and enjoy.

My Favorite Medifast Breakfast Options:For breakfast, I almost always have the cappuccino. I am a coffee drinker and really couldn’t start my morning without it. The cappuccino is part of the Momentum metabolism line and you can get it by ordering it individually or by ordering a Momentum pack (which includes most of the other popular foods). I also enjoy oatmeal and like all the flavors (apple, cinnamon, blueberry, and peach) but peach has to be my favorite.

Mid-morning snack: I’ll usually have a protein bar here because 10-10:30 is a busy time for me. These bars don’t have the crumbly texture and bland flavor of many protein bars. Most of them are actually chewy and don’t have a weird aftertaste. You are only allowed one of these per day. The only flavor I don’t like about these is the strawberry crisp. My favorites are the peanut butter and chocolate mint.

Lunch:Oddly enough, I often eat medifast eggs for lunch. I eat my lunch a little early and I’m often not very hungry at this time. So, I add veggies and fat-free cheese to my eggs in the morning, or sometimes I add cheese and an omelet. Other times, I’ll opt for the chili. It’s pretty good and I like to add the low calorie cheese and diet chips on top to make a kind of taco salad. Many people ask me about soups. Some of them are fine. I like chicken and rice as well as chicken noodles. Tomato soup is good too. But, I’m not a fan of crab or broccoli but I don’t like these things when I’m not on a diet either.

Afternoon snack: I almost always have a milkshake here. The medifast 55 dutch chocolate milkshake is so rich and indulgent in flavor and at 3:00, I’m craving snacks and carbs. I sometimes use the ready-to-drink shakes if I’m too busy to make the 55, but they’re not my favorite because I really like to control the texture and like to add fat-free syrups. The Dutch Chocolate Milkshake with Caramel Syrup and Fat Free Whipped Cream is pretty good. French vanilla is decent too, but I’m partial to chocolate in most foods.

Dinner:Your dinner is prepared by yourself and is called your “lean and green meal”, although you can have this main meal whenever you want. So, I’m going to skip this because none of the plan’s meals are involved here.

Night Snack:There are a couple of options here. I’ll usually go for the pudding (my favorite is the banana). Sometimes I go for the fries if I want them salty instead of sweet. And there are plenty of recipes that allow you to take dry pudding and turn it into baked goods, so sometimes if I have the time, I’ll make it.

In general, I don’t find medifast foods to taste too bad. I usually stay away from crab soup, beef stew, and fruit drinks, but pretty much everything else is edible and can often be made better by simply fixing it.
