Child abuse in our society and a solution

admin 0

“Childhood should be carefree, playing in the sun; not living in a nightmare in the darkness of the soul.” Child abuse is one of those rare topics being discussed in our society. This problem has become a catastrophic dilemma at this time. Our children are just as insecure as those facing armed conflicts around the world. All children who are abused in their childhood become mentally destructive souls. They lose their innocence and trust. They lose their self-esteem and stability. They lose their inner critic to make their parents proud at a very young age. They curse themselves for what has happened to them. They behave like broken souls imitating the lives of adults. As a result, most of them become so frustrated and mentally retarded that they become abusers themselves. They think they can satisfy their brutal inner voice by taking revenge. 60% of abusers are those who have faced a situation of this type in their childhood. They really need some psychological therapies for their misery.

But regardless, it is important that we educate our children about child abuse. This is the time when this social dilemma must be openly discussed. It is the sole responsibility of parents to teach their children about good and bad touches. They must pay close attention and be able to understand the comfort zone of their children. They should not allow their children to sit on someone’s lap because this happens when abusers politely touch small children’s private body parts by making them sit on their lap. Parents should not leave their children alone with uncles and especially with workers such as drivers and maids. Parents should make their children believe that they will always be by their side. Educational institutions should have welfare centers where students have full influence to discuss their problems. Teachers should be active enough to observe behavioral changes in the nature of the student, for example, if a child who talks a lot in class becomes silent for no apparent reason, then it is the responsibility of the teacher to find the reason behind his silence. Most cases of child abuse occur in rural areas where people do not have enough education to educate their children. They pay less attention to their children’s well-being and more to their educational grades. It is a bitter truth of our society that many cases of child abuse are taking place in the holiest place called Madarras.

The time has finally come for us to break the silence and be more sensible when considering that child abuse is a serious crime. We need to understand the intensity of the situation because these children are our future. We should all step up and join hands to protect these poor little souls from such horrible tragedies. Our government agencies should be active enough to teach these abusers terrifying lessons. They must be punished and receive proper mental treatment. These guys are a blessing from Allah (SWT) and building blocks of the Pakistani nation.
