It is a device used to connect twisted pairs of Ethernet. In the event of a collision, it is these that pass the signal to all the other ports. For example, a protocol socket cannot receive all the signals because it is connected to the switch that divides the ports into different paths, but if the protocol analyzer is connected to the network hub, it will allow to see all the collisions in the segments. It is composed of a switch device that selects the route for the passage of data. Network hubs can be of various types. There are passive network hub, active network hub, and managed hub.
In managed, situations are managed and monitored by a network administrator from the remote location. These managed network hubs can be used to tune the operation of a network at a high level. They restrict the passage of all types of traffic. Problems have minimal chances of bothering the user, since managed network hubs fix them as soon as they arise. Apart from these great features, they are also a bit more expensive than the other two hubs that we are going to discuss now.
As the name itself suggests, passive network hubs work without a hitch. The passive network hub is not guaranteed to improve the efficiency of your LAN. Their task is simply to take all the signals offered to them and pass them on to all the other ports connected to them. The active network hub is preferable to the passive hub because it does more than just pass signal packets through. In addition to the functions present in the above, it actually inspects the data that has been sent. Active network hubs actually use a storage technology under which they check the data that is passing before forwarding it to the next port. However, they are more expensive than passive hubs, but are also readily available with various port numbers.
