Mind Reading Revealed: Popular Magic Tricks

Many mind tricks are more than just tricks. They are creative systems to touch the power of your mind. They entertain, but they also have more effective uses. In this article, I might be explaining a couple of simpler yet popular tricks for you to do yourself, so get ready to learn mind reading that I am going to reveal to you.

The first revealed mind reading trick that I am going to explain is known as “The Name of the Dead”. This is an extremely simple trick to do, but if done with the right angle and setup it can look fantastic.

For this trick, hand out 3 sheets of paper and ask 3 people for help. 2 are to write the names of living people on your ballot, and the 3rd person, the name of a dead person. These boxer briefs fold up and fit into a hat, without you touching them. He is then blindfolded or the hat is placed over his head so that he cannot see through it. You can reach out and pull out the receipt with the deceased person’s name on it.

This revealed mind reading trick is easy. Take a sheet of paper and tear it into 3 pieces. The top and bottom pieces will have a smooth edge and a thick edge, but the center piece will have 2 thick edges. Ask someone in the crowd to write the name of a dead person on the ballot in the center, and 2 other spectators, the names of a living person on each of the other 2 ballots. Have the underpants fold over and drop into the hat. When you put your hand into the hat, all you want to do is feel the slide with 2 thick edges.

When you have found it, do not take it out immediately. Get the audience to focus on the names they have written. Take off the slip, still folded, and hold it against your head. Build suspense, then expose the paper in your hand as the one with the dead person’s name on it. If you wish, you may leave the room while names are being written and enter blindfolded for a dramatic performance.

Another trendy mind reading trick revealed is called “The Magic Numbers.” You write a prophecy on a blackboard and cover it with a handkerchief. He then passes a pad of paper to a spectator and asks them to write a 4-digit number on the pad. Two other spectators each write a four-digit number below the first. Have a fourth observer add them up and announce the result. The blackboard is uncovered and there on the blackboard is the solution.

Use a pad about five by seven inches with a cover. The pad should open at the narrow edge (top). On the first page write a 4-digit number, and below this 2 more 4-digit numbers as if they were to be added together. When writing your figures, try to make them look like they were written by different people.

Draw a line under the row of shapes so they can be added. On another sheet of paper add these figures. Do not write them on the first page, but commit the total to memory, or write it very faintly on the board. Fold back the cover and the first page of the pad (with the figures) so that the second (blank) page is visible.

To begin this revealed mind reading trick, open the board and appear to concentrate. Write the total of the figures you wrote on page one, on the board, so that no one can see them. Cover the board with a tissue and give it to someone to hold, or hold it up in plain sight. Go to one of the assistants and ask them to write a 4-digit number on the pad. Hold the cover and the first page down along the back of the pad so you write on the second page.

Repeat this with 2 more viewers from different parts of the room so you get plenty of walking. Ask the third person who writes the figures to draw a line under the column of figures so they can be added.

Now walk to the opposite side of the audience, and as you do, fold the top page over the pad, so your figures are on top. As you do this, tear out the page, close the cover of the pad, and ask a spectator to add the figures. Give him the pad to rest the sheet of paper on. Ask him to transmit the result after he has added the figures. Have the first observer, who is holding the board, hold it up and read what is written on it. Totals will agree.
