My pinay craving led me to Max’s

My feet led me to Max’s restaurant in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) for lunch today. My hunger pangs were begging for something to really satisfy my almost trembling body cells as the clock struck close to 12 noon and I was able to eat a meal to nourish my depleted energy. Today I wanted a balanced meal (combination of meat and vegetables) at a reasonable price.

I was received by Haya, the waitress who is going to serve me. She was kind but a bit slow. I chose Max’s Restaurant’s fried chicken and lumpiang ubod fresh food promo and ordered a refillable sago’t gulaman for my drinks. My verdict is as follows:

Fried Chicken: I was given a small portion of chicken thigh and a cup of steamed rice. The chicken tasted good, it was just marinated correctly and I was able to catch the flavor of Max’s fried chicken in that small portion of the chicken. The house ketchup this time was not as good as when they still had Jufran ketchup. Now it is sweeter and thicker. I will rate my Fried Chicken Max 3 stars and 3.5 stars with the house ketchup.

Fresh Lumpiang Ubod – This is their fresh spring roll served with a thick sweet sauce with ground peanuts on top. The lumpia wrapper they used was very good, it was soft and fresh, blended really well with the vegetables and you get that nice old lumpiang ubod flavor in sauce that you would expect. I’ll give their lumpiang ubod 4 stars for this (if it wasn’t for the very sticky sauce it might have been five stars!)

Sago’t Gulaman – A really refreshing sweet gulaman drink to satisfy my shaky body. It quenched my thirst and the cold was perfect. Nothing really fancy as the taste is very simple and traditionally the sago’t gulaman that I have known from a young age. Classification? 3.5 stars!

Wait! Haya asked me to order his “bottomless” sago’t gulaman? I think so, but when I asked one of the waiters to refill it, he didn’t and I felt like he was elusive. Hmmmm…well, I asked the other waitress (Hi Haya, where are you? I thought you said you would be my server for the day?), she quickly refilled my glass.

All for the price of Php380+ it wasn’t bad but given a choice I would choose to spend my Php385 somewhere that would make me feel more satisfied and happy. Where could it be? I am still looking for candidate restaurants/food outlets to win the spot.

Until next lunchtime!
