Teenage pregnancy: blessing or curse?

Statistics have revealed that at least 4 out of 10 girls get pregnant at least once before their twenties. This trend will worsen as indicators point to the next generation outperforming the current trend. What has caused this problem to appear?

Teenage pregnancy has more vices than virtues. A group of people may not totally agree. First of all, the disintegration of the family unit is the worst culprit, apart from the main and real problem of a Godless society. What we see today is a society that has slowly but surely been turned away from God. Therefore, we have replaced this lost and unmatched relationship with other things like alcohol, sex, sports and other unsatisfying activities.

The breakdown of the family unit, where a mother or father is left behind to raise a child, has a disastrous effect, especially when the remaining father is also the breadwinner. To cover this lack of parents, children allow themselves to be educated by the media and are exposed to uncontrollable spending habits. The media has played a catastrophic role in making our teenagers, who in their current situations have not developed any skills, trades or personal development, see only one side of life. A life devoted to sexual activity at an immature age. The media have successfully obliterated any sense of dignity, morality and modesty in the precious teenager’s life.

What life does a teenager have to give to his youth? What good training or advice a rebellious teenager has to absorb into their own children, however as mentioned above the fault is not entirely theirs but our godless society is a major contributing factor and so is the way of life of credit card should be deterred.

On the other hand, when looking at the current health of our adolescents, which has been declining and falling faster than ever, there is a need to worry about childbirth and consider at what age a woman or a man is most fertile. More and more adolescents are experiencing problems with their reproductive organs; girls have severe menstrual cramps which, if not diagnosed early, could lead to future complications leading to infertility. Similarly, some teens experience a lower sperm count than the average guy is supposed to have.

These health problems have an important link to the types of food consumed today. Our highly over-processed, genetically modified, and easy-to-cook foods are what are causing these early health problems. Imagine a teenager craving and eating fish and chips, cooked with bad fatty oils after school, what nutritional value is in this food besides the taste and flavor it gives? Our teens are hooked on dead foods like potato chips, carbonated drinks, sodas, and many more, resulting in the first signs of poor health. What has happened to eating healthy, eating adequate portions of the 7 essential nutrients the body needs, especially fruits, vegetables, and nuts? A wise man once said: “Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food.”

We need to educate our teenagers and fast too, as not having entrepreneurial skills, a calling or a trade and bringing a child into this world will wreak havoc on our society as a whole. Also, training their taste buds to eat healthy from an early age will prevent them from facing fertility problems should they decide to continue their education and careers to postpone labor to a later stage in their lives. The right time will be after their marriages, which is a wise choice. Keep in mind that children are a blessing from God and the timing of their birth is crucial to their well-being, their uniqueness, and their contribution to our planet earth.
