What is PocketDish?
Dish Network’s PocketDish is a nifty video, music, game and photo device that’s compact enough to fit in a pocket or purse. You can store TV shows, music, your favorite games, and photos on PocketDish.
PocketDish was created by Dish Network, the fastest growing US satellite television service and the first pay television service provider to enter the portable video player market. Using cutting-edge digital technology, Dish Network’s PocketDish designers have created a miniature multipurpose entertainment system that’s perfect for people on the go, offering super-fast downloads and crystal-clear pictures.
This portable media player is available in three versions: two compact portable media recorders and one portable media player. The video recorder has a 7-inch LCD screen and a 40GB hard drive. The two media players have 2.2-inch and 4-inch screens and 20- or 30-GB hard drives. Each of the three PocketDish models comes equipped with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that gives you four hours of video and 12 hours of audio.
All PocketDish models can be connected to the Dish Network’s Dish Player 942’s USB 2.0 ports for fast program downloads. An hour of Dish Network programming can be downloaded in about five minutes. You can transfer an entire movie with PocketDish in less than 10 minutes!
Transferring content from Dish Network is easy. Simply connect the PocketDish to your DVR using the USB cable included with the PocketDish. Once connected, a series of on-screen prompts will guide you through transferring content stored on your DVR. With the receiver, you can also manage the contents of your PocketDish. When the transfer is complete, simply choose “Done” and unplug the cable from the PocketDish and DVR. PocketDish will then update all the files. New programs can be accessed using the Video icon; they are stored in the folder called Dish Network.
